Missions Supported By
Southport Baptist Church
How we support missions
The church is involved in the lives of several missions workers by our support in the areas of prayer, encouragement and finance. Regular updates are posted on the Missions Board. The church gives at least a tithe to support these missions workers.
We also collect used stamps to support Global Interaction Australia (GIA), and purchase old-themed stamps at a discount from Australia Post to sell at the regular price. Although the amounts involved are minimal, over the months and years, substantial amounts can be collected and used.
Missions Sunday
Every second Sunday of the month is Missions Sunday. Home-made produce (jams, preserves and other goodies) are sold and the proceeds sent to overseas mission.

| Terry & Robyn Collins |
Terry and Robyn minister in Thailand with Pioneers where they operate in the Northern Development Children’s Centre helping children with disabilities, including the provision and maintenance of wheelchairs. A farm for cattle and rice growing is established and it is hoped to build a training centre there. As an income generating project, they are keen to put a rice mill into operation to process not only the rice grown on their own farm, but that grown by others too. There is also a bakery and a coffee shop. They teach English through Bible Study. |

Jan & Larry Martin |
Jan and Larry Martin have been working in Thailand for many years with our Baptist Mission, Global Interaction Australia (GIA). With two other families, one Australian and the other from India, they are sharing the Gospel in a village in Northern Thailand. They do this as they build relationships with the local people through English teaching, helping neighbours in life and work situations and joining in local festivities and celebrations. When on home assignment they share in worship and fellowship at our church, and visit other churches who also help with their support. |

Cooper Family |
The Cooper family, John & Anne, Katie, Jessica and Justin serve with Mobile Mission Maintenance (MMM) which provides practical help for Christian ministries, both in Australia and overseas. John grew up in Outback Queensland and the family were living in Longreach in 1991 when the Baptist church began there and they became actively involved. In 1999, they joined a MMM work team with others from the church, to build a bookshop in the Soloman Islands. John, a plumber, has been a valuable member of several teams to China. More recently, they obeyed God’s call to become full-time MMM workers at the State Centre in Brisbane, committed to ‘serving those who serve’. |
