Southport Baptist Church
Why is prayer so important?

Prayer is a vital part of our church life and your personal walk with God.

At our 20/20 Vision meeting In February 2007, the church highlighted prayer as an area which required more attention and warranted more attention. The bible says much about prayer. In James it says that the prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective.

Prayer is just like having a hot line to God - Twenty Four Seven. Like a loving father, you can go to him and talk any time. He wants you to spend time with Him. He wants you to spend time with him and to pour out your heart to him. Tell him about your passions and your desires. Thank and praise him for his many blessings. Ask Him where you want Him to use you. Vent, if you need to. Let off some steam and express the things that hurt you; that make you angry and frustrated - but do it with reverence. He will listen to every prayer you utter.

Spend time with God. Develop a relationship with Him, a relationship that grows deeper and deeper. Prayer is a vital part of our relationship with God, and vital in discovering His will, individually and collectively, here on the Gold Coast and around the world.

Join our Hour of Power this Friday.

Are any of you suffering hardships?
You should pray.

Are any of you happy?
You should sing praises.

Are any of you sick?
You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.

Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

Growing a vibrant, life-changing church family, bringing hope to the community through Jesus Christ.
