Basic Assignment
The Youth Pastor is responsible for providing ministerial leadership to develop a comprehensive youth ministry that is consistent with the mission of the church.
Staff Relationship
They are responsible to the Senior Pastor who will supervise, evaluate and provide a report of evaluation to the Elders and the church meeting from time to time.
Qualifications
- Shall be a Biblically based & spirit filled Christian, ascribing to the vision for a purpose driven church.
- Shall have completed the necessary training courses to lead in the area of youth ministry or be willing to pursue such training.
- C. Shall preferably have at two years experience working with youth.
- D. Must hold or be eligible to hold a Child Protection Blue Card.
Principal Duties
To equip and assist the church organizations and leaders in planning, conducting and evaluating a comprehensive youth ministry in support of the mission and objectives of the church.
Specific Responsibilities
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Serve as a member of any leadership team the elders feel is appropriate.
- Attend Elders and deacons meetings on request
- Attend and report at quarterly business meetings the activities, achievements and needs of the youth programs.
- Participate in planning and conducting worship services designed for youth & children.
- Participate in home visitation, out reach and hospital visitation where necessary.
- Assist in planning special events with various committees.
- Report regularly to the Senior Pastor on youth and children’s activities.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Responsibilities to Youth
- Develop and implement programs that attract youth to Christ and promote spiritual growth.
- Direct in the use of program materials, equipment, supplies and space utilization by youth groups.
- Plan and coordinate special events (retreats, camps, mission projects and trips, etc.) that touch all youth at various levels of spiritual maturity, within the goals and objectives of evangelism, worship, fellowship, discipleship and ministry.
- Prepare an annual budget that is reflective of the goals and objectives of the ministry.
- Develop healthy relationships with parents and guardians of all youth, providing resources for them to assist in their growth as Christian parents and to counsel with them when needed.
- Keep abreast of youth trends and resources needed in order to serve as an advisor to the church on adolescence.
- Review and evaluate all materials used in the area of youth ministry.
- Be a visible support to the students and parents whenever possible.
- Develop and administer programs to recruit and equip adults to work within the youth and children’s programs. Serve as an ongoing resource to adult leaders for materials, ideas and coordination.
- Develop and administer a program of active outreach to the youth of the community.
- Develop and administer a program for follow-up with youth visitors and their parents.
Other Responsibilities
- Provide oversight in the area of all children’s ministries.
- Serve as a resource to the leaders of all children’s ministries for materials, ideas and coordination.
